Top Blogger Award

The inaugural Medical Post Awards were celebrated Nov. 10, as winners, runners-up, finalists and other guests gathered together in Toronto’s Distillery District.

The evening featured award presentations, a Q&A with CMA president (and award-winner) Dr. Katharine Smart, and a mixing and mingling of guests.

The awards (except for the top blogger award) were adjudicated by panels of physician judges, some of whom were also in attendance. Winners, runners-up and finalists were informed before the event.

A message from MD Financial Management and Scotiabank, sponsors of the 2022 Medical Post Awards

MD Financial Management and Scotiabank are proud to sponsor The Medical Post Awards, and to join in celebrating Canada’s physicians, as well as in the awards’ support of national independent physician voices, contribution to community, and practice innovation.

Thank you for all you’ve done for your profession and for our communities — from being on the front lines throughout this pandemic to your perseverance in managing its ongoing aftereffects.

At MD and Scotiabank we’re focused on improving the lives of our physician clients and their families — helping them to achieve their financial goals at every life and career stage from their first day of medical school to the final day of their practice, and throughout their retirement — so they can enjoy their families and what matters most.

MD and Scotiabank have also partnered with the Canadian Medical Association to support physician wellness. These include giving more than $15 million to provincial and territorial medical associations as part of the Physician Wellness+ Initiative.

Together we bring deep knowledge about careers in medicine: we understand the unique finances of physician families. We also understand how the financial needs and priorities of physician families shift throughout the years — from funding medical school to relocating, to beginning to practise, repaying debt and deciding whether to incorporate, to buying a home and planning for retirement and beyond.

Our clients have access to a suite of financial services, all in one place. They can also get one-on-one advice on every aspect of their financial health — tax-efficient investments, insurance, retirement planning, estate planning and more.

One of the many benefits we’ve seen since Scotiabank purchased MD Financial Management in 2018 is the Scotiabank Healthcare+ Physician Banking Program, developed in collaboration by MD and Scotiabank. The program provides for banking solutions for every stage of a physician’s career, with preferred benefits including education financing, mortgages and home equity lines of credit, help financing your practice, Scotia Wealth Management private banking solutions, and business banking solutions.

MD continues to be a leader in helping physicians with the business side of medicine, too. Canadian physicians look to us when they’re considering practise-related matters including incorporation. Scotiabank’s Healthcare Professional Specialists have deep knowledge and expertise in providing advice and practice financing solutions to help physicians realize their goals.

MD is also there to help with financial literacy on a wealth of topics. We share our knowledge and expertise on interest rates, inflation, and helping physicians navigate difficult times in the market. We do this through our website, md.ca, through webinars, podcasts, and direct advice from MD Advisors*.
